Autism Awareness Month

As some of you may know today is the start of Autism awareness month.

What some of you may not know is that I do work with special needs children; some have been diagnosed with Autism. Having worked with them both in a classroom setting as well as in home, I can tell you it is a wonderful experience.

Unfortunately, children diagnosed with special needs need a lot of extra input for every milestone they reach. Some might need one extra therapy session here and there, while others need full time stimulation and care.

Since today happens to be the start of Autism Awareness Month, I think a great way to help out would be a small donation. There are so many good agencies out here but this year I will be donating to Ohel.

The real reason I am donating to them during this month, is because I had the honor of meeting a few of the parents and children on a retreat a while back. Not only were the parents grateful by all the programs from after school to end of summer, but from what I heard, they recently opened up an inclusion camp for all children.

Any program that works to take away stigma for children with a label is worth donating to.

If you have donated to help agencies during Autism awareness month please comment below.

I will start off:
I have donated $36 to Ohel. They have serviced a lot of programs for children diagnosed with Autism. There work has helped a lot of my connections nationwide and I would love to see them go further.

If you do not have any special agencies you would like to donate to, please feel free to donate to Ohel. Every penny counts when you are helping a child born with special needs.
